Re: Brew stand opinions

I think I have everything but the steel at this point. Tentative plan is to purchase and melt some metal in a couple weeks, then assemble/plumb and see how big of a fail this endeavor was/is

Re: Brew stand opinions

Going all low pressure propane. Need orifices, have a nice low pressure regulator on it's way. I should order steel this week and get started on the stand so all I have to do is the hard part, mount and plumb the burners. It's slowly coming a long. I have 3 recipes, 50# of 2 row and 2# of hops waiti...

Re: Brew stand opinions

Well maybe I will go NG, but that takes me wanting to brew in other places (mainly my back patio) another issue. I can run NG to my garage without too much issue, but running it to my back patio is not happening (finished basement on that side of the house and too spendy since it would be a long run.

Re: Brew stand opinions

Well I ordered 3 of the huge banjo burners. Now I just need to figure out how to hook them up. High pressure and eat propane or low pressure? The low seems like I need a lot of parts to make it work, but I'm not familiar with this stuff yet. Low pressure = future automation, but does that matter how...

Decided to go with 3 of the mid sized, mid priced BG-12's. easier to mount, lighter and not as huge of a propane hog and I am hoping they are quieter than the torches.

Now I need to research needle valves, what PSI regulator I need to buy if my 10psi wont work and other plumbing do's and don'ts

Thanks Matt, nice setup. I considered a basement setup, but the lack of space and it's our only place for storage nipped that idea. Stinks bc I have access to a drain for a sink and NG hookups.

After this build, finding a way to get a sink in the garage is the next priority.

Electric HERMS sounds expensive, but it only cost me about $20 because of doubling the use of equipment I already had. I used a temp controller I had to run my fermenting fridge. Now it has two jobs. I use my immersion chiller as a heat exchanger in my HLT and the heating element and weldless fitti...

Yes in the grand scheme of things it's not a lot of $$.

Two weeks ago I had a $30 cooler MT and $50 turkey fryer pot with a 3/8" ball valve

Now I have polished keggles, silicone tubing, camlocks, 2 pumps, etc. I will enjoy the pumps more than anything else I suspect.

I have considered natural gas, but not going down that road on this build just yet. I can get the large burners for $32/ea, but need to call on shipping. Those suckers are not lightweight. Again, I may just go with one for the BK. I know the torch units are loud, I have had them for several years fr...

Good point on one for the BK, I may go about it with that mindset.
