I'll be working near downtown St Paul, not far from the Northern Brewer store. Dave had mentioned a good brewery/restaurant near there, I don't remember what it's called. We're going up this weekend to look at a few rentals, primarily in the Eagan, Apple Valley, Lakeville area. There were a couple p...

Moving to Twin Cities
Guys, I haven't been very active in the club for the past 6-8 months or so, I've been ridiculously busy with work and home life. In any case, I've accepted a job in St. Paul and will be starting there in about a month. So I'm basically going to be even busier trying to get ready to move in time. I w...

I use a keg for my boil kettle. What's that, 16 gal? I like having the extra capacity. Less worry of boil over. How short is too short for starter time?
So I may or may not brew tonight. I really want to churn out a wheat beer and am debating over whether or not to do it tonight. I have some white labs yeast that I purchased probably in May. I wonder if I whip up a starter tonight when I get home from work, if it would be ready to pitch after only 6...
here's a good article on the crutch (aka foiling) http://www.amazingribs.com/tips_and_technique/texas_crutch.html I agree with this guy and never foil my pork. When I stopped foiling my ribs they took longer but got much better. Now, are you doing a loin roast or a tenderloin? If its pre-brined it s...

I haven't heard about the petroleum build up aspect, but I know you can use briquettes in a BGE or ceramic cooker. It will produce a lot more ash since its basically pressed hardwood particles held together with binders. It can be a bit of a pain to clean ash out of ceramic cookers. Also, it won't h...

Better Bottle research: Airlocks and Cleansers
Better Bottles rock. That's cool that the company is more than just a plastics manufacturer. Free fridge
I have a friend who just moved who is giving away an older fridge. It's a top freezer setup. It works he says, it's just an extra that they acquired in the move. Judging from the looks/color of it, I'd say it's 25+ years old. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll pass along contact info.
