Re: Blichman Floor Burner

It's not the Hellfire model, it's their Top Tier series. At least I think that's what it's called. Here are a couple of pictures I forgot to upload the other day.

Re: Long Live the 2015 Festival

If Benz is still happy to help us put on the event, then I think we should stick with them. Is the date for the festival right? Maybe there are just too many other beer festivals that come before ours. The serious craft beer drinkers will probably come out regardless, but the casual beer fan might g...

Re: Long Live the 2015 Festival

-Am-Pro, I really think this needs to happen. #1 it's cool #2 it could bring us a lot more traffic - More raffle items. Heck I never even heard that the raffle happened  I like the idea of a Pro-Am. There are a lot of beer festivals out there, and I think if we really highlight the fact that t...

Re: Long Live the 2015 Festival

I'm a correspondent for Gazette Sports currently, and I know a few people over there. I could write a preview for us next year or get someone out to preview the event. It wouldn't cost anything. Maybe a series of stories following a beer from brew day to serving at the fest. Maybe we could do that f...

Re: 2015 Beer Nuts festival planning

I'm available to help out on the 29th, but I can't make it to any meetings since I have class on Wednesday nights. My last class for the block is on the 12th, so I can make it after that.

Re: Priming sugar 101

I always bottle, since I don't have resources for a keg set up right now. I've almost always had trouble nailing down a good priming ratio. I've used BeerSmith and tried calculating it on my own. It's usually over or under carbed. I tried the Muntons carb tabs recently and the carbonation level is r...

Muntons Carb Tabs

I've never been able to properly batch carbonate a beer. I always either under-carb or over-carb so I decided to give these a try. The packaging (and Joe) said to add 4 tabs/12 oz bottle for normal carbonation. Has anyone used these before? I bottled on Saturday and the tabs are starting to break up...

Re: Schlafly Irish Style Extra Stout

I put it through BeerSmith and it told me to lower the 2-row down to 9.5 pounds and add 2 pounds of Crystal 120, 2 pounds of Crystal 60, and 2 pounds of roasted barely in order to achieve the numbers provided by Schlafly. My efficiency is so-so. I think the last I looked it was somewhere in the 65% ...

Schlafly Irish Style Extra Stout

Stout is probably my favorite style of beer and this is one of my favorite beers. It's only a St. Pattys Day seasonal, so it's not available most of the year. I found this clone recipe online. Does this seem right? It seems like a lot of grain to me. It's 8% ABV, 45 IBUs, and a 75 SRM according to t...

Distribution List

A cool site that gives you a list of breweries that distribute in a given state. I'm sure not every brewpub and small brewery is listed, but it's hard to keep up with where to find some beers.
