Re: The Downside of the Craft Beer Boom

Some quick numbers from USAhops.org reports show hop acres in the US dropped significantly in 2011 for some reason as well, contributing to some availability issues. The 2013 report includes info going back to 2009 which was peak hops production in the US - We're still producing nearly 20 million po...

Get Stoned @ Bricks v(4)2.0

So yeah, Bricks having their annual Stone takeover and prime rib dinner tonight 4.20.15. I missed it last year due to employment (derp) so I plan on making up for that. I'm also bringing my last bottles of Crime and Punishment (2013) to add to the Stone variety. Not sure when they're kicking off but...

Re: Toppling Goliath to start contract brewing in Florida

So, to be clear, the rumor was something like :" cofounder/head brewer leaves Toppling Goliath, perhaps with bad blood". Since we hear jack and squat about TG reality here - let alone get the beer brewed under such dramas - I'm just positing this new contract brewing deal may have been par...

Re: Toppling Goliath to start contract brewing in Florida

So I heard last week some rumors of, err, a staffing shuffle at TG as well. Given the nature of that supposed change one wonders if these events aren't connected somehow, as they're both pretty big decisions. I see how contract brewing will work out in the short-term to meet the demand but you'd thi...

$5 glass carboy

Ok so I'm moving to beervana soon and I've got a 5 gallon glass carboy and a pile of mostly clean, 'premium' commercial bottles that aren't making the trip with me on my motorcycle. Since I don't have a way to get rid of them properly by recycling (they're all labeled for refund) and there's a chanc...

Bells 'games' at Parlor City

Hey all, got wind of an event at PC this Saturday, seems Bells will be back in town for a tap takeover and some...err...consumption-based competitions. From the whisper I heard it seems they're signing up teams of 4 for competition and there's free swag involved for a small entry fee. Just wondering...

Had a great time last night, wanted to thank everyone and the host for allowing us to loiter until around 1am.

Although I'm a bit disappointed - I've still got a pan and a half of brownies to eat. oh boy. ;D

Solid numbers on the declining sales of 'big' beer

Not entirely off topic, and certainly nothing surprising to most of us: here's a quick rundown on just how far sales have fallen for a handful of big domestic brands making/selling over 600,000bbl a year.

*volunteers

I can do anything but host. My apt isn't exactly spacious.

I'd be interested in judging if there's a good source for how to approach it. I know it's more than just 'I like this one better than the other' depending on style and color and...etc.
