BeerSmith 1.4

Post by BrewHound »

Hey all,

I just downloaded the newest version of BeerSmith. Thought I would take a look at the most recent version (1.4, which is listed as Vista compatible).

It has come a long way, Some nice features here. The layout of it is still somewhat goofy. However I have yet to really find one that I think is laid out really well.

Anyway here is a link to the site which has a free 21 day trial so the next time you are going to formulate a recipe. You might want to download it and enter it into both Promash and Beersmith and see which you like better!

After trying both Promash and Beersmith, I bought beersmith. Having never used either I thought the layout in Beersmith was more user friendly. So far I have made 3 recipes from scratch and 2 are drinkable ,the 3rd will have to sit till fall. The other thing with Beersmith is that it is still actively updated. Promash hasn't been for some time. Just my .02

Promash Upgrades

Post by exdevildogcpl »

Tom,

There was a post on AHA's Techtalk about the upgrades to Promash which got a response from the maker Jeff Donovan.

It seems that his wife has been battling cancer for some time so that has been taking up a lot of his time (understandingly so).

I use Promash but have not tried any others. I know of a few brew pub brewers that use it as well.
