Welder

Post by brownbeard »

Does anyone have a welder I can borrow, or a place to weld, or want to do a small welding project? I want to build a bike rack and mount it next to the house. We had 2 bikes stolen last summer, and I want to be able to lock them up next to the house. I don't have enough room to store them in the garage. I can buy a cheap one for about $75. But they look pretty poorly made. I am sure one could be made for less and better. I am thinking of something simple made of 1" square steel tubing.

Here is a rough drawing. The side posts should probably be left long, as opposed to adding feet. That way I can anchor it in some concrete. Also, it really only needs to support 4 bikes.

I've got a MIG, but no gas tank right now.  You could use it with flux-core wire.  -Jim

I have a arc welder with plenty of rods if you have the steel. I'll be on 3rd shift this week through the weekend. Text me or message me if you need any help or want to use my welder.

I'll be out of town for a hockey tournament all weekend. But I might want to work on it next weekend.
