2011 and future club competition styles?

Post by Matt F »

Can someone post the upcoming club competition styles and approximate schedule? I am in a brewing mode and want to see what I should be aiming for. I know they were drawn at the February meeting and recall one of them being smoked beers but I do not recall the rest, or timing of them.

For some reason I only have three in my meeting minutes. European amber lager (Marzen), Smoked and wood aged beer (Other Smoked), and Other meads (open category).

That's correct - we only picked 3. After the next judging, we'll pick the next one. So there will be a running schedule of 3 all the time. This way you'll always have a year's lead time to brew if you want to enter, regardless of style picked.

I'm sorry that we didn't post this sooner, but the officers haven't met since the club meeting and we haven't set the schedule yet. But, given the styles, the order ought to be:

22B - Other Smoked
3B - Marzen (Octoberfest)
26C - Open Mead

And remember to read the style guide, as that's how they'll be judged. For example, Other Smoked is NOT a Rauchbier.
