IF BCS remains unchanged, I will still buy it. I really don't drink anything else from them, unless I am in Chicago. They usually have some good taproom only offerings that are pretty tasty. I wonder how their experimental budget/freedom will change. If they have to go through an approval process before they can experiment with and test some new recipes, I imagine new beers will slow dramatically or even stop. I would suspect taproom only beers would still happen since there is no distribution cost to that.

Re: goose Island Acquisition
This definitly does not bold well for Goose Island, when the Brew Master resigns, beers typically change, and while not totally in love with many of there beers I am not as oppossed to them as some others here. Lets face it lots of times when you go out for a meal here, Goose Island is usually one of the only things drinkable on their taps.JimF wrote:On Mar 28, 2011 12:04 PM, "hoboscratch" <brew-news@crbeernuts.org (brew-news@crbeernuts.org)> wrote:Greg Hall, the GI brewmaster, has resigned and been replaced by Brett Porter.Hahaha this is from the comments section on that article you posted:

Not sure how this will play out but the brewpubs were not part of the deal. Also curious how this will impact the Siebel Institute. This is where the students did some learning.
"The two Goose Island brew pubs are not part of the deal, but will continue in operation, offering consumers an opportunity to sample Goose Island's award-winning specialty beers and food selections."
Overall, sure hate to see AB getting their hands on craft beer. May allow them to eat up more shelf space we need for the little guys.

I think one of the brew pubs is closing anyway.Matt F wrote:Not sure how this will play out but the brewpubs were not part of the deal. Also curious how this will impact the Siebel Institute. This is where the students did some learning.

If I have to choose between a Honker's Ale and a Fat Tire, I am choosing the Honker's every time.hoboscratch wrote:After thinking about this most of the day, if BCS changes at all (price, adjuncts, brewing location, etc) I will probably never get another again. I'll just save my money for more KBS.

This is my fear more than anything. InBEV/AB is looking to hold onto shelf space since their sales have been down significantly the last few years while craft sales have gone up. The battle for key shelf space is really where the bulk of the beer war is fought.Matt F wrote: Overall, sure hate to see AB getting their hands on craft beer. I hate to say it, but I will probably boycott Goose Island now, and not purchase any of their products even when out eating. This is now the big guys new game to keep the entire market share. They try to quitely purchase as quitely as possible brands when they get bigger. They will not change anything about the beer brand other then pricing. They will lower the pricing on the brands and increase marketing campains in order to try to use them as a tool to remove other craft beer competitors.
They have had the enitre market share for so long they are not willing to give any up, and will do what ever is required to keep the enitre market share.
This is just my personal opinion, in out-of-the-box ways big beer has helped mirco breweries and homebrewers, however, this was never their intention and if they could have change the industries to benefit only them they would have done so.
