Were still on for 3rd base, I know this has fell way side a bit since were all so focused on our prime time event at benz with shirts, tap box, beer line up, etc. But I’d still really like to get this put together. I realize it’s a bit too late to do one of the official beers, I know Randy has some beer he is interested in brewing, I have an empty keg fridge (which is not right) and a couple of kits I picked up to bang out some beer fast, and I’ve heard some rumbling of a few other that might have something they can brew. In the spirit of things I say we just all get together at 3rd base and do lots of brewing on whatever we have down there. It will be a great place for publicity of the club and home brewing in general.

Randy, I appreciate the offer for hosting at your house, but for convenience of location and exposure, I’m suggesting we stick with the 3rd base location. LCT, has offered the hose so we will have water to cool, I’m just bringing water from the store to brew with, etc. We are also looking at a 9am start time. It sounds like we’ll have the tent there, grills, etc. The club is going to provide the meat and buns for those of you interested in doing lunch down there, please bring something to share for a side.

So to recap:

Saturday May 7th
Back of 3rd Base Brewing Blairsferry RD

-- Bring your setup to brew with, water provided

--If you plan on eating lunch, bring a side to share and let us know so we can get a head count for meat.

Not sure if I will make it or not on Saturday. I got a big day. Going to go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time.

Seriously though, my attendance status is unknown.

As incentive to show up and hang out, I will be making a Baconator to grill!!

Plus, as a side beer tasting event, I would like to do a side-by-side of several IPAs - Furious, HopSlam, Racer 5, and my Furious clone. I have the beers, so I'm not looking for beer donations, unless you have one that you'd like to add to the list!

It's also Kentucky Derby Day, so wear your best hat and don't forget your sterling silver mint julep cups!!

See ya'll on Saturday morning.

If we want to brew the OFFICIAL BBD beers, we need to pick a recipe and ask for folks to donate grain, hops, and yeast to brew them.

Here's the link to the recipes:

Karl and I plan on brewing something.  But we're out of grain, so we'll need to buy some off someone.  Does anyone have 20lbs of 2-row they're willing to part with?

I'm not sure I'll make it out Saturday. I am going to at least try and stop by for a few. Even though I planned to go well ahead of time I've ended up with some things I have to do.

Jim,
I can do 20# of 2-row. I've got a good supply of other grains as well.

I'm not sure if I'll make it or not. I suspect I'll have to go in to work, but that is across the street so I may stop by for a beer or three.

I think I have 1 bottle of my Furious clone. I'll bring it to compare.

Excellent.

Also, I registered us on the AHA site. Looks like most of the IA brew clubs are on for Saturday - MUGZ, IBU, THIRSTY and Dubuque clubs all registered.
