Come join us as we celebrate the AHA Big Brew Day this Saturday, May 7th! You can find us behind the Third Base Brewpub on Blairs Ferry Rd in Cedar Rapids, from 9am until mid afternoon or so.
Several of us will be brewing on site. You can also get an insider look at the brewing operation at Thirds Base and meet the Head Brewer, Travis S. If that's not incredible enough, we'll also be grilling fine foods including the world renowned Baconator prepared by chef Tony B!
If you plan on partaking in the food, please bring a side dish to share. It would also help to RSVP so that we can make sure we have enough food to go around.
Beer Enthusiast and Home Brewers, Come on down!

Folks, also bring chairs unless you want to stand the whole time.
Pottsie, you need charcoal, or anything for the grill? I'll bring the tongs, etc.
Weather forecast looks very pleasant - upper 50s. low 60s, with no real chance of rain, and mild breeze (10 mph). Not too windy for the tent.
Let's get ready to brew up a party!!

Super Day! Great beers, good food, super company!!
We had 4 brews going, an all day affair. Thanks to Randy, Joe, Pottsie & Karl, and Travis, who did a double batch. Can't wait to try them all.
Big thanks to LC T for hosting and donating the taps for our box. A big shout out to Jim F for all the work on the tapbox.
Let's keep our fingers crossed that the weather is this nice for Benz!

AHA Big Brew Day 5/7/2011
All, it was a great day indeed.
Although our numbers dwindled a bit form previous years, I think it was even better than the previous years as we really all got to brew together on our own rigs which what makes us really home brewers. Several of us were able to point a few non brewers in the brewing direction. The weather was great, the water was free, and the food and beer was great! Besides my sun burn, couldn’t think of much that would of made a better brew day.
Thanks to all that took the time to drag out their brew systems, Travis “Scheid” for hosting us in his parking lot and providing sampling and water. Thank you Tony for grilling up some much needed chow for the hungry and needed mixture for the beer to soak into.
For those who missed this, I hope to see you all out next year, and don’t forget next week, we have our premier event at Benz!
