NHC 2011!! Who is Step'in up!

Post by carrisr »

Brian,
I'd like to visit some breweries if possible too. However, my flight doesn't get there until Wednesday at 2:35pm. Tony and I are flying in on the same flight, I don't knwo if anyone else is yet.

So Tuesday and Wednesday are out for us. (I wish I could afford another day or two away from the office!) I'm not doing any conferences, so I'd potentially be able to do some tours in late mornings or afternoons (hangover willing).

I don't know what your schedule is Wednesday afternoon but we could sure use a pickup at the airport if that's at all possible. Airport cabs can be expensive. I'd be happy to chip towards gas and rental.

I'm glad you posted because I too was wondering if it would be better to rent a car.

Larry, Michelle and I are renting a car in San Diego so we can make our own
pub/brewery tours. I think we want to go to Apline Brewery, Alesmith,
Stone, Green Flash, Lost Abbey and maybe some others. We are flying in on
Tuesday at 1PM. We plan to do tours Tuesday afternoon, Wed morning and
depending on how things go, either Fri or Sat.

I was wondering if anyone else wants to go in on the car rental and join us
for the tours. We will most like, take turns being the DD on these tours.
Let me know if you are interested. Depending on who responses, will
determine what size vehicle we get. If it is just the 3 of us, we will
just get a car if there are more, we will get an SUV or mini-van.

Ok, the BNA6 tickets went up yesterday.

Unless your timing was right we missed the VIP tickets, which gets you in
an hour early and a quick bite by some food by sean Paxton.  Hope one of
you lucky buggers got in on it.  Hopefully someone who didn't last year.

The general admin tickets have gone on sale already and still plenty
left.  You can get your ticks for the event at the following link.

I got my GA (that's General Admission - Don't want to create any more confusion!) ticket too, so I'm good to go.

I won't be getting into town until Wednesday morning and then am scheduled for the Stone Brewery tour first thing, so I don't know that I'll be around at the beginning of the conference to share your ride.

Does the club have any business cards with our club information that those of us going to the conferene could take to hand out as appropriate? (As if any of our behavior will be appropriate...)

Good reminder. I will get a big stack from Travis, as I have run out, too.

Plus, don't forget to bring your Beer Nuts shirts to wear to the various events. We got lots of postiive comments on them in Minneapolis.

My first beer was an Arogant Bastard followed by a Port Bewery Wipeout IPA. My tastebuds are shot now. I might as well drink Bud from now on, but I won't. No more Stone beer until I go to the brewery on Wednesday.

No no no!  You just have to find some even bigger IPAs.  Then your tastebuds can still react!

My advice is to eat some killer hot Thai food. That'll shock those taste buds back to life - sort of like a defib for your tongue!

Rounding 2nd, Ballast Point's Pale Ale. Lower hop profile than I expected but a nice malt balance. Not a bad beer, but not great. On Jun 13, 2011 9:19 PM, "JimF" <brew-events@crbeernuts.org (brew-events@crbeernuts.org)> wrote:

FYI - I did get some of our business cards from Big T. Hit me up for them once we arrive tomorrow afternoon.

Stone Brewer tour was great. The brewery isn't that different than most others, more automated than a lot of microbreweries but the same basic stuff. That being said, they serve great beer!
