4th of July barbecue

Post by brownbeard »

I will be hosting a 4th of July BBQ this year, at my house. I will provide a few kegs of homebrew, brisket, and maybe pulled pork. There is also supposed to be a small rib competition, if anyone is interested in throwing their hat in the ring.

This is a family event, my kids will be there, and others too. Bring the wife and kids, and have some beers and BBQ. We do ask that people bring a side to share. Or in the case of Beer Nuts, bring beer.

If you think you might be coming, let me know, so I can judge how much meat to make. There should be plenty.

No barge and no beer. We'll be on May's Island between 2nd & 3rd Ave. There's only a couple times I won't drink till the work is done, fireworks and the chainsaw.

Hey I resemble that remark!

PS: I will probably be there for the 4th, still have to speak to the wife but you can probably count us in.

So there is an impromptu rib competition. There are 4 guys involved right now. There will be a trophy awarded to the winner (bragging rights are temporary, hardware is forever). If you want to be in the rib competition, bring 2 racks, ready to judge, by 2pm. I will have smokers rolling, and gas grill.

Also, bring a lawn chair. The crowd is getting big. Bring beer. I will have:
4 Gal IIPA
5 Gal Wit
9 Gal American wheat

I'm going to try and make it. I'll probably have some odds and ends in growlers such as American Stout, Tasty APA, Altbier, and maybe some Helles.

For those interested in the rib comp, Edgewood HyVee has back ribs on sale this weekend (6/24 - 26) for $2.99/lb. That's $2.00 a pound off the normal price.
