70% on the camp, food and beer. Less than 10% on the float.

I most likely (80%) won't make it again this year. If I do it will be late and I'll camp.

tubes

Post by tedly »

Tubing sounds most fun.

Anyone know of a place in CR that rents out inner tubes?

Otherwise Amazon has some for about $20, Or a bit more if you get a reinforced cover.

Well folks, so far the weather is looking good for being on the water Saturday. No rain yet and warm so nice to be in the water. So far just Travis and I canoeing. We will start earlier in the day and meet the tubers at 1:00 at the Old Paris Bridge which is now Sutton Road. It is shown in one of my earlier posts. For folks that are tubing, figure out how you want to get to our meeting spot and such. My cell phone doesn’t work too well in that area. AT&T so big surprise there. I can put coolers and stuff in my canoe for you. My suggestion is get together and take one car to the bridge or get dropped off around 1. Travis and I will meet you there. I will have to get a ride back to my car where we put in the canoe that day so we should be able to pick up your vehicle too. You can leave any extra vehicles at the camp site. Depending on what is going on around there, we may be able to get out near our camp instead of down at the boat dock. Travis and I will scope out the exit point in the morning.

Small crowd so far so feel free to recruit your friends. Six will be fun, but the more the merrier. I am bringing a 4 person tent that works better for 2 or 3. Looks like we have enough people to cover the bare minimum for a group site which is three camping units. Food is on your own so make sure you have your needs covered and bring something to share if you like.

Count me out. This will be the first weekend in 4 that I'm at home. I'm going to get some good quality family time lazing on the couch.

I've got my brother (who was at Tim's BBQ and several of you met) attending.

And he might even recruit a couple acquaintances as well. I'm waiting to hear on that.

We'll all be tubing and camping. So mark me down as two or four.

I'm in for camping. Floating sounds fun, but I would likely sink.

As for beverage vessels, the ranger I spoke to said they are most concerned about kegs so kegs at your own risk and keep it out of sight. Otherwise, bottles and growlers are OK, but be discrete. As long as we keep things cleaned up we should be fine. Also, bring cash or checkbook for camping. Share sleeping quarters and save a few bucks.

For you guys tubing, let me know if you are not sure where you need to meet me. It is an old red bridge and you can park on the side of the road. Don't park so that you block the access to the river. It is pretty easy to see when you are there. I recommend getting dropped off or car pooling to limit the amount of drivers needed when we are done. Seemed like last year folks were a bit sauced when we were done. If we aren't there with the canoes when you get there, feel free to enjoy a swim. There is usually a bunch of people jumping off the bridge there. It is really deep. Nice sandbar to wait on too. I attached a picture of the bridge for those not familiar with it.

For people just camping, gates close at 10:30 PM so be there before then.

Do we need firewood?

I have a fair amount left over from this year's winter supplies. I just don't have a appropriate vehicle for transporting it.
