Apples

Post by DrPaulsen »

Well, we accepted an offer on our house today. As of 1-September, we'll be farmers and have around 50 apple trees to deal with.

Anyone that wants apples this fall is welcome to them. As I learn more about when certain varieties will be ready, I'll post details. Most of the trees look pretty full so there should be plenty for everyone.

Does anyone in the group have a cider press?

That's awesome news! Did they come up on their offer much? It's such a relief when you reach an agreement on a house. When we found a buyer for our old house it was the first night I slept well in about 5 months.

Congrats! Apple wood goes well on the smoker too, particularly with pork. So you can take up that hobby as well...

I have a small press if anyone needs to borrow it, I do not have a crusher though just a press.

+1 on applewood in the smoker. We've got a couple flowering crabapples in our yard, and I save the wood when I trim them.

And woohoo congrats on the new spread!

Great news, Lee!

I use a lot of applewood on my Q, usually in combo with hickory.
