The next Beer Nuts Tech Meeting is on August 3rd and is hosted by Jim Potts. The meeting starts at 8pm at 1916 Fox Trail Dr NE, Cedar Rapids, IA.
This month we'll be showing off brewing gadgets and sampling Saisons. If you have a gadget that you made or bought that makes your brew day easier please bring it to show. We're looking for items many might not have seen or used, or a unique application for a common item.
Also, since several of us have recently brewed Saisons, we'll be tasting both home-brewed and commercial examples. Feel free to bring either. We won't be grading anyone but I'll have copies of BJCP score sheets and Style sheets so you can make any notes you want. It's a good opportunity to learn more about this style, that's really gaining in popularity, and to practice your beer judging skills.
I hope to see you all there!

Cool - I love gadgets! I've got a box or two full of random stuff I'm playing with or use regularly that I could bring. Just off the top of my head:
1. RIMS tube
2. Quick Disconnects -- both the spring-loaded plastic & SS camlock varieties
3. The parts from a broken, ghetto HERMS system
(Lesson learned -- aquarium pumps can and will melt in boiling water.)
4. Hop Rocket
Since my system is all torn apart right now, if anyone wants to see them I could also bring a March pump, electric boil kettle, various tri-clamp fittings, etc.

I don't use a RIMS tube. This is just something I cobbled together from stuff I rescued from the trash can at work (it's a strange coincidence I'll explain at the meeting). That being said, almost all the necessary parts are there and should give anyone that's interested a good sense of what it would look like.
I might use it in the future as a secondary heat source in a HERMS system or else pair it with a solenoid valve and make some type of in-line steam injection system. Since I'm currently building something totally different from either of those, if anyone is interested in building up a RIMS system or something that uses a RIMS tube, I could probably be talked into donating some parts.
