Hy-Vee Autumn Extravaganza Thursday 9-22-11

Post by Matt F »

From the Marion Hy-Vee.

Over the weekend I sent out a, “SAVE THE DATE” email for our upcoming Autumn Extravaganza wine tasting event. For those who are new to our distribution list, or were unable to attend this event last year, I thought I would drop a quick teaser email to define what this event is really about, and some of the special guests that we have planned for you!

When you think of the word EXTRAVAGANZA, I hope you think BIG! This event is designed to be over the top, and blow away all your expectations. Your Marion Hy-Vee wine and spirits department is committed to giving the best of the best all the time, and this event is our way of thanking you for your support. With that being said, these are just a few of the highlights we have planned for you all this year, on September 22nd from 5-8pm.

Last year we had around 29 different wine, beer, and spirits suppliers on hand. This year we have over 40. There is not another store in the market featuring that many vendors at one tasting!
There will be 8 different suppliers of great beers on hand, including a local brewery, reps from the Boston Beer company, and others favorites too.

We will be featuring 5 different fine spirits suppliers, including local favorite Cedar Ridge!

Now the wineries, more than 25 different suppliers of wines from all over the world. We have invited many Iowa wineries to be a big part of the event too! De Ja Vine, Wide River Winery, Englebrecht Family Vineyards,
Ardon Creek Winery, Lucas McIntire with Virgo Moon wine, Fireside, Cedar Ridge, John Ernest, and Stone Cliff just to name a few! Many other surprises await, but I don’t want to give it all away just yet!

Many vendors will have wine makers, or brew masters on hand, district managers, state managers, even owners will be on hand! This is so you can learn as much as possible at our event! We want you to be truly overwhelmed with options, and I think you will!

Like last year we will have live music, there will be light foods, and plenty of wine, beer, and spirits, to sample! We are working with a winery from Argentina, who may be sending us a Guest! There may be a guest tour bus from the maker of one of the bestselling Canadian Whiskeys in the state! You will have to stay tuned for more details!

This event will have a $5 admission, with a coupon for $5 off any wine and spirits purchase coming right back to you the night of the event only. We will work to make parking easier for everyone, and should have shuttles helping people right from their cars to the tent entrance!

Keep checking your inboxes for more details, and we look forward to seeing you all at our 2nd Annual Autumn Extravaganza!

I'm here now.  Good crowd.  Park at the credit union or hardee's, and take a golf cart.

Steve, good seeing you down there… and all the other folks I ran into.. I barely got to sample I ran into so many great folks I haven’t seen in awhile. I just wanted to mention for those who missed it, I think they would of found value in the spirits and wine, assuming you enjoyed that, but the beer selection was something we were accustom to and I’m guessing many of us have drank before so no serious loss there.

Overall a fairly good event, but the participant etiquette was crude at best considering the demographics. A lot of folks that either hung out in front of the table drinking like it was their personal bar or other folks that found anyway into the line and helped themselves regardless of your position. I’m normally numb to this, but this event seemed extremely more difficult to obtain a beverage unless you used gorilla tactics.. Next year I bring the foot ball uniform and tazer.

Cheers all
