September 26th Grain Order

Post by DaveCo »

All:

I have emailed with Chris at Millstream and he is willing to order grain for the CR Beernuts again this year. As of right now, we need to get the order to him by Friday September 19th. Please post your order on this forum ASAP. I will put the order together and email Chris the next day. I do not have prices, but I would expect them to be more then last year, but much cheaper then you can purchase them online. Also, here is a list of specialty malts that Brian and I have/will have after the order. These are available, at cost to the club.

Dave

Caramel Munich 60L

Tom Burns has Aromatic malt.

Dave could you post last years prices so we can get an idea of what we are talking about here. The wife is going to kill me if I order to much and spend a whole bunch of money.

Dave I am correct that the order comes from Rahr Malting company" and that anything they produce we can order, correct?

THIS SHOULD BE THE FIRST TOPIC ON THE AGENDA AT TONIGHTS MEETING!

Also is anyone want to go in on some specialties. Like the 20L (maybe a couple of others). I like to have these because I use a lot of it. But, not enought to justify 50#s.

Anyone who is interested lets discuss tonight at the meeting. So I can post an order when I get home tonight afterward.

What's the procedure for distributing it? Do we need to go to Amana to pick it up?

Just to let everyone know the price per bag will be about $30-$40. This is still a great price for grain if you compare it to pricing on-line. No whining about the prices. Millstream does not have to do this for our club and a great show of appreciation to them would be appreciated.

There I'm done with my rant...althought I do like the added height I get by standing on a soapbox. I think I might stay here for a while.

We will need cash and will have to pick up the grain as soon as Millstream receives it so we might need some assitance. Dave and I have picked up the grain the last couple of times and it get pretty heavy moving 2 tons of grain so if you can help or supply a vehicle that would be great.

I worked up some order sheets will bring them to the meeting.

I also ran off 6 copies of the Briess guide of the malts and their characteristics. I will bring these to the meeting as well.

Ageed.

Leg bad. Still can't be vertical very much because of excessive swelling in my shin.
