For the dog fans in the club

Post by Matt F »

I was going to post this in the "Bit Bucket" but could not attach a picture in there.

Since there are so many dog lovers in the club, thought I would introduce the newest member of the Franklin Zoo. The family got an Australian Shepherd puppy for Christmas this year. Cammy has always wanted one and the kids are really enjoying their first puppy. Her name is Bella.

Very cute! Fair warning though, Aussies are very high energy and can be single minded about "jobs". Your throwing arm may be in for a real workout. They're great dogs though and very smart.

Definately a high energy working dog. It was one of my main concerns. We plan to work with frisbees a lot and let her herd cats. My wife is really in to the dog and after three days it can sit, shake, lay down, and heel. She is mostly a stay at home mom so should have time for some daily exercise. The kids get in on it too. My only request was she train it to jump off her back and catch frisbees. I also told her I would prefer to see her do it during half time of a sporting event.

Aussies tend to have a high fetch frive too, so maybe work on fetching beers!
