December/January Tech Meeting: Dec. 29th.
Thursday December 29th, 7pm at Lee Paulsen's house.
Sorry for the last minute post on this. Lee Paulsen has offered to host us at his house for a demonstration of his all-electric brewing system. We'll also make this an intro to all-grain brewing for those who are interested in how to get started. I'll bring along some very simple equipment and give a brief run-down of the process. This will be a great opportunity to see two ends of the equipment spectrum and ask any questions you might have.
This is also a followup to the meeting we did on electric brewing that Lee presented previously. This would be a great time to see the setup in action and discuss pro and cons of the many ways of going all electric.
Lee will follow up this post with directions and additional info. We look forward to seeing you there!

My address is as follows. Google will get you here. If you came to pick apples or press cider, it's still the same place.
3601 Otis Rd, SE
Cedar Rapids
I plan to dough-in between 7:00 and 7:30 pm. I'll follow up this post with a listing of the recipe I'll be brewing. Having moved somewhat recently, I only have a hoppy IPA and last year's club RIS on tap, but you're welcome to them.
I intend to treat this as a follow-up to the Brewing with Electricity Tech Meeting we did in January 2011. Please find the slides from that meeting attached, below. I won't have any copies of those slides on hand, but will be glad to answer any questions if you bring them.
In addition to a demo of my HERMS system, I will have a pH meter, DO meter, hop rocket, MLT pump float switch, and a few other toys on hand for folks to play with.

If you plan to come, please dress warm. We'll be in the garage with the door shut, but I'd guess it will still only be in the upper 40s.

Anyone interested in hooking up for dinner at Parlor City before heading over to Lee's for the Tech Meeting - say around 5:30pm?

I will be at Parlor City, but need to catch up with a friend one-on-one before the meeting. I could join the Parlor City fracus at 615 or so.

Parlor and Tech Meeting
John and I will be at Parlor around 5:30.
We must have done something right b/c the CAP was bubbling away within a couple of hours of pitching the yeast this morning.
Hopefully everyone had a good time and learned something. Sorry I couldn't get to everyone's questions. I wasn't expecting more than 4 or 5 people to show up, otherwise I would have done more to prepare.
