2012 BBQ Throwdown

Post by tony b »

As we discussed at the meeting this week, it's time for the annual BBQ Throwdown! The Club has a number of serious Q'ers, so you'd better bring you A game to this one, folks!

How does Saturday, August 4th work for folks?? 5PM start time; end time - when I get tired/drunk and kick ya'll out!

Plan B is Saturday, July 28th.

The event will be a my house (1722 Chestnut Ln NE, CR). I'm just off I-380 at the Coldstream Ave exit.

Bring your best Que and/or a side dish to share, in addition to a big appetite.

Since this is not a regular Club meeting, you can bring commercial beers to share as well as your homebrew.

I will start a poll for the type of Que that we want to challenge ourselves with this year.

It's gonna be a party, as always!!

WOW - virtually a 3-way tie between Brisket, Ribs and Chicken. We'll leave the poll open through this weekend (July 8th) for folks to cast those last minute votes. If necessary, we'll do a run-off.

One thing is certain, August 4th looks like the best date, so that's settled. Sorry to those who can't make that date, but that's the way the BBQ smokes sometime.

Then, my personal preference is to go with something other then Brisket (not that I don't love some brisket), but that is what we did last year. People could still do brisket and bring it for the feast nothing wrong with that. Just choose something else for competition.

In fact would kind of like to see us build a potential list of Q items that are out of the ordinary Grill'en mediums, including some off ones like Samon, swordfish, gator, Ostrich, bision, veggies, etc... this makes for expanding horizons and trying new things. Keeps us out of the mundane and reaching for new heights.

Would kind of like to see the club do this like the club comps, where we put them all in a list (hat) then pull them for comp and don't put them back in until we have gone through the list. Before you people start screaming obsenities at me (not far out of the ordinary anyway). This is just my two cents on it. I like to finds ways to challange myself other then discovery in the shower.
