February 19th Meeting
February 19th Meeting
Hey all,
Hope this email is finding everyone well, I will be hosting the CR Beer nuts meeting this month.
This month we are having a Chilli cookoff, so if you are a Chilli Master please bring some and throw in for title of CR Beer Nuts Grand Chilli Master. If you are not a Chilli cook, feel free to bring anything else. Seems to be that Spicy is going to be the theme of the day, so there is plenty of other stuff that could be brought if you don't want to throw your hand in with the chilli.
With that being said, what goes better with Chilli then a great Pale ale, so the style for the month is:
Catagory 10: American Ales
this includes the following sub styles
American Pale Ale
American Amber Ale
American Brown Ale
The meeting will be on:
Thursday, February 19, 2009
7:00 PM
The following is our address.

I am attending but will not have any chili. I will bring 4.5 cases of empty 12 oz. bottle looking for a good home and maybe something with some beer in it.

I will be bringing Chili as well...with beans. I would be nice if we got a list of overone who will be bringing chili and who will have beans and non-beans. That way we might be able to break then down into two competions if we have enough variaties. I will also be making this spicy. For those who love spice and can't get enough, I hope you enjoy it. For those who think they like spice...I wouldn't eat it.
fair warning.

By my informal count, we're up to about 10 folks doing chili. As far as I know there's only one green chili on the list, so maybe not enough to have 3 categories, but we should be able to split it into beans/no beans (aka, real chili) categories. I will print up voting tickets (red for real chili, green for with beans).
Unless you plan to dispense your chili personally, I'd recommend folks that are bringing "butt burners" to put warning lables on them for the unsuspecting. Rule of thumb, if your's is hotter than anything on the shelf in HyVee that's labeled "hot" or "spicy" then you need to warn folks, so they don't end up looking like this !!
And don't forget to bring a serving spoon/ladle to dish your chili with.
I will be bringing the sampling cups, spoons, napkins, grated cheese, and saltine crackers.

February 19th Meeting
I’m pulling in my first NON bean chili. And I’ll plan on sampling the burners last so I can taste the rest of the grub, and most of all the beer. I don’t want to blow my palette the first five minutes of the meeting.

I'll be bringing chili with NO BEANS, hot but probably not as hot as some others. If I am going to the trouble to make good chili then I want to be able to at least taste the flavors. I will also try to remember to bring a power strip so we can plug in at least some of the crock pots. And remember, if you're not bringing chili you can always bring something cool to go with it, like fruit or something with sour cream in it to cool the tongue and soothe the palate (did I spell that right?). Not sure what beer I'm bringing since I'll be entering them in the contest next month. I may have to make a trip to Benz.
