Lager chilled too much

Post by whitedj »

Is it bad to freeze a lager before pitching the yeast?

Last night I cooled my lager a bit too much... When I went to pitch the yeast this morning there was some ice on the surface of the wort. I allowed it to warm to upper 40's, and pitched the yeast as typical. Apparently I still need to do some work with controlling the airflow in the fermentation chamber.
