Corny keg question

Post by beerguy2009 »

I am looking at stepping up and starting to keg my beer. I was wondering what is more common the ball lock or the pin lock keg. What is the club bar set up for?
Any thoughts on the difference would be great.

Corny keg question

The club bar is set up for ball lock. Ball lock is somewhat more common. If you get a great deal on pin lock kegs, there are conversion kits available, although the cost of the kit would probably wipe out all but the greatest price difference.

Brian Anderson uses pin locks. I got my first few kegs because they fell off a pepsi truck. So, I started with ball lock.

So where is the best place to get what I need to start kegging? Most of the places I have looked at online are the same price. I don't think BIY Home Brew Supply carries kegging stuff.

For kegs themselves, keep your eye on ebay.  And try different combinations of kegs when calculating shipping.  For example, I was just looking at a seller that charged $36 shipping for a single keg, and $45 shipping for 6.

As far as hardware goes, you can get pretty much everything from Rapids Wholesale in Marion, though you might pay a little extra for the convenience.  They used to carry CO2 canisters, but their website doesn't list them right now.

and steer clear of Linn Weld for CO2 as they are pretty expensive compared to Praxaire or Hawkeye fire.
