Club Competitions, When, What?

Post by Matt F »

Can someone in the know post what and when for the club competitions that are scheduled. I do not know what styles are when other than the upcoming cider to turn at the July meeting and the Furious throwdown turn in at the August meeting.

I don't have my notes in front of me, and will verify it when I type up the meeting minutes from last week. But here's what I remember

Belgian Dubbel - Late Fall
Munich Dunkel - Spring
Saison - Summer

This is one of the reasons that we're looking to revamp the website is to include a calendar, so you don't have to search back through old posts to find this kind of info.

Has this schedule and set of styles been verified? If it really is Belgian Dubbell up next, I suppose it's time to start brewing....

Can a single brewer have two entries? I have one dubbel ready to go now and may brew another soon. Wanted to see if I could enter both.

We have allowed it for "specialty" beers, meads, and cider. Not sure if we've ever done it for set styles. In BJCP comps I don't think it's allowed. Maybe someone who has been around and involved with judging longer can answer.

Some BJCP sanctioned competitions that I have entered you are allowed to submit up to 2 per style but they must be distinctly different. just my $0.02

Can someone confirm that Dunkel is the next beer comp style? If so, are we looking at a February turn in?

I'd say March turn in since we're turning in dubbels next week.
