New homebrew store in Marion!
I found a box of almost 50 club cards in my bar last night. They are the original cards with color. I will try to drop them off at Big Brew.

I stopped in last night to the shop there in Marion and spoke with Joe. He has the Beer Nuts cards by the register.
Also, he has a decent selection of grains from Rahr and Muntons and all the associated knick knacks needed to brew. Liquid yeast from White Labs in the cooler and a selection of hops and dry yeast. He said Wyeast should be coming in the near future.
Also, there's a punch card where you get a 10% discount after $100 spent.

Liquid yeast must be new. he did not have any on sunday, when I was there. I bought a bucket, and a couple of bits and bobbles. And got my punch card started. Spend $100 and get 10% off your next purchase, pretty cool. A bottling bucket (which is what I use as a fermenter) is $17 at northernbrewer. It was $11.99 at BIY.
You can't get with this with a bad hip - Matt

Sweet. Hope he makes it. Will be so nice to have liquid yeast around the corner.

I stopped in at lunch today and talked to Joe. Really nice guy and wants to have what we want to buy. He wants to keep his prices competitive with other shops and online stores and he seems to have that well covered. Had a lot of different hops and grains. If he doesn't have something, make sure to let him know. He just opened and it will take some time to learn the market. I asked him why he decided to open a shop. He is from Chicago and moved here with his lady to be close to their family. There was no homebrew shop in town and he said that just wouldn't work for him so he opened his own shop. I am really excited to have a local shop especially for yeast, hops, and specialty grains.

Went there today and was able to get all I needed to make my next brew
being new to all grain brewing I have been ordering grain crushed since I don't have a grain mill yet. Joe, the owner, has a barley crusher and he was able to crush my grain for me at the store! It was great to get liquid yeast locally. He is carrying a variety of strains from White Labs.

I think it is great to have a local place to get brewing supplies. Joe, the owner, continues to expand his inventory and carries quite a bit for the AG brewer. He also has liquid yeast on hand which is great. If there is something you want, he can order it in and he is always wanting to know what people want so he can best serve his customers.
Check the place out. It is located in the Indian Creek mall behind the McDonalds in Marion.

I love it. Haven't done mail order since the store opened. I most often stop by for one off items. I picked up a carboy one day. A few specialty grains here and there, oak chips and many stops for yeast. The great thing is all of these items came up for different projects at different times. I use to wait and stockpile my wants and needs to make one order to consolidate shipping. Then I would have big gaps in brewing. Now if I need something BIY has it or will get it. I have brewed over a dozen times this year which is a good pace for me. Prices are on par with Northern Brewer and Midwest. I would say more in line with Midwest which I found normally beat out NB on prices.
BIY is great and Joe is running a nice shop. If he doesn't have something you want, ask and you shall receive.
