Do you want to see Tech meetings continue?

Post by carrisr »

As I am sure you have noticed, our tech meetings have been on hiatus. This was mostly a result of the rush planning we had to do to prepare for the club festival. Now that we are done with that for a bit, I wanted to bring this back up.

So the questions are: Do we want tech meetings to continue? Is someone (or a committee perhaps) willing to step up and organize these meetings?

Here's the "situation": With my involvement on the board, as well as planning committees for events, I am already attending in 3-4 club meetings or functions per month. As a result, I no longer have time to plan and run these tech meetings. So I'm putting this in the club hands.

The Tech meetings are great but I can rarely attend them. Maybe they become a randomly scheduled event. Basically if someone has a topic and can put it together, we have a tech meeting. I am certainly glad we did the stir plate meeting or I don't know when I would have squeezed that project in.

I volunteer to take over coordination of the meetings.

I would like to see the Tech Meetings continue, but feel the club would be best served if they were organized on an "as need" or "as available" basis. The "need" could be established with a poll or by a simple request. If someone has a topic on which they would like to present, they need only state that it's "available" and a meeting could be organized.

I have intention of putting together some material for 2 or 3 presentations this year. Topics will include, assuming anyone is interested, aeration/oxygenation, clarifiers, and proteins in beer. There's nothing like a deadline to get something accomplished, but having them monthly or bi-monthly is maybe not practical right now.

YAY LEE!

I for one really want to see the meetings continue.  And on a side note, I think all three of those topics are great.

I think that is a great fit Lee. You have taken a scientific approach to many items faced by the homebrewer and educated us all. I look forward to what you put together. I am still doing no boil starters due to your shared experiences.
