More Beer - Chillus Convolutus Sale

The More Beer deal of the day is a Chillus Convolutus CFC for $165 (regularly $189). I have one and love it. I highly recommend it for anyone thinking about buying a counter-flow chiller. It also doubles nicely as a heat exchanger in a HERMS system (i.e. instead of putting a coil in the HLT).

I just slide 1/2" silicone tubing over the bare pipe.  It works very well.  I planned out my system such that I would very rarely need to swap out those tubes in the middle of a brew session.  Unless I'm using a pre-chiller hop back, the inlet side remains attached to the pump and the outlet is just a piece of tubing with a camlock that can be moved around.  I've considered making small sections of tubing with camlock QDs and leaving them attached, but it can be a pain (literally) to disconnect the tubing and accidentally dump boiling wort all over yourself, so I decided to just leave the hoses attached and rarely give myself a reason to move them.

I picked this up about a year ago on same deal. While not quick disconnects, I followed the electric brewery build:

I am absolutely sold on the immersion chiller with a wort return. Cheaper too. I use it as a HERMS in my HLT also. Makes an awesome whirlpool and chills the entire volume below 100F in just a few minutes on a 10 gallon batch.
