Counter top material

Post by jjbuck »

I am adding a new counter to my brewery and was wondering if there was an alternative to formica that anyone may have tried? I was looking for something easy to sterilize, but much easier to install than formica? Any suggestions? ( I am not "handy" at all )

or maybe plexi would be cheap and easy, but not at all heat resistant.

If you could find an off-cut of corian, it would be ideal. Solid composite, no wood or particleboard involved.  And if it gets scratched, you can sand it out.

I recommend going to Re-Store & just taking whatever you can find there.  Five years ago, I got an 8' piece of countertop for $20 and made it into a garage bench.

Restaurant auctions are a sweet place to pick up stainless steel work tables. I have laminate counter tops in my brewery left over from my mom's kitchen remodel. Free is my favorite price. If I was starting from scratch, I would be looking for stainless steel work tables.

I second that. I was just there this morning and found a great storage shelf I can use for the brewery.

I found 6 foot counter tops at Home Depot for $30.06 each. The sticker said it was marked down from $80.00. At any rate I now have six feet of counter top (rather an odd color) to complete my brewery. There were about 6-7 more of these pieces at HD Sat afternoon if you're looking for counter tops.
