Deschutes Launch

Post by kjball »

I received an email this morning regarding a homebrew-centered event with the Deschutes brewer.

We are planning to launch our beers in Iowa July 19-26 with a huge slate of events, including a few in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area. We want to invite you and all homebrewers to join us. There is one set of events dedicated to homebrewers. They are on Thursday, July 25 at Big Grove Brewery and Reds Alehouse. We have partnered with Reds and the newly licensed Big Grove Brewery to provide homebrewers an opportunity to see, learn, talk, and taste all things craft beer.

We will start the day with an open house at Big Grove Brewery from 3 – 6 PM. This is a word-of-mouth event only…for homebrewers. Bill, Head Brewer of Big Grove, and Callan Vaccaro, brewer from Deschutes will be in the new brewhouse brewing beer and talking about it with a little beer on hand to sample. Very casual and chill.

The more formal event (open to the public) will take place at Reds beginning at 7 PM. For $20…..

· 4 samples of Deschutes Brewery beers paired with 4 original Reds food items

· Plus a full pint of a fifth beer

· A take-home logo pint glass

· Clone recipe booklets

· Small bags of hops

· Stump The Brewer Q & A with Bill and Callan

· Tickets can be purchased at Reds in advance or at the door, or via phone at 319.626.2100

I have included our Iowa Launch press release and postcard of events for more details about the entire “week” of events. Please feel free to pass them on to everyone.

Please join us……

Thank you.

Bad people drink bad beer. You don't usually see an empty bottle of Rochefort tossed onto the side of the road

If you didn't catch it, Big Grove is the new brewery in Solon, headed up by our buddy, Bill from Red's Alehouse.

But, I really want to see how Wally can be in 2 places at once on the 26th, both Marion and Oakland Rd HyVees from 1-3:30pm??

Would I be able to hitch a ride with someone from the brewery to Red's? I'm meeting my wife at Red's and would rather not have 2 cars there.

Would anyone be willing to drag my sorry ass down and back?  I'd most certainly cover a pint or two or five in exchange.
