August Tech Meeting

Post by DrPaulsen »

The winner of our most recent poll for a Tech Meeting topic was "Yeast Pitching Rates, Starters, & Harvesting". I've prepared material on this topic, along with information on Wort Aeration for an August Tech meeting. The material should appeal to a wide range of experience levels & is focused on the practical rather than the theoretical. If you want to make better beer, this material should help.

As with the last meeting, I can't host, so we need a volunteer. Is anyone willing to host a tech meeting in one of the first two weeks of August? Monday and Thursday work well for me. Preferably this will be a 7-9 pm meeting.

Also, if anyone has specific questions they want to see covered related to fermentation management (pitching rates, temps, O2 levels, etc.) please post them here and I'll do my best to research the question & incorporate some targeted material into the meeting handouts.

I should also add - if anyone has a suggestion for a public meeting place to hold a Tech Meeting, please put it forward.

Reminder - we will be having a Tech Meeting this Thursday. Details are below. I'll provide copies of the discussion material slides for everyone & will have beer on tap. Please bring a chair or be ready to stand the whole time as I only have a couple of chairs & we're meeting in my garage. You're welcome to bring any beer you wish.

Reminder - Tech Meeting tonight. This should be a good discussion for anyone wanting to make better beer. Probably 90% of the most common flaws I've tasted in homebrew can be traced back to fermentation management.

Have you considered recording the tech meetings? I would gladly pay for a copy. Have two other commitments tonight.

No, but I have considered re-holding the same meeting if enough folks can't make it to the first one.  The material is set up more for a discussion than a lecture so I'm not sure recording it would be effective.

Lee
I was looking forward to this meeting but since I'm leaving for the GTMW tomorrow, I need to stay home tonight...  I would like a (soft) copy of your handouts if possible.

Thanks to everyone who came out last night for our August Tech Meeting on Fermentation Management. We had a great discussion.

Please find a copy of last night's discussion material attached, below. I know several people couldn't make it so feel free to ask questions about the material either in the forum or at general meeting. If there is enough interest, I'm open to repeating the meeting at some point.

Thanks to Lee for hosting and putting on one of our best Tech meetings to date! I think everyone learned something from it.
