November meeting

Post by carrisr »

The November 2013 meeting of the Cedar Rapids Beer Nuts will be held at the Longbranch in Cedar Rapids, starting at 7 pm on the 21st.

We're holding officer elections during this meeting. You need to be a member to vote, so if you want to attend but are not yet a member, please wait until at least 8pm.

Other notes: Since this meeting is at the Longbranch, we are allowed to bring commercial beers. If you've never been to a Beer Nuts meeting at this location, the room we meet in is usually in the basement. It's easiest to enter from the hotel lobby. Those entrances are further back than the restaurant entry. The basement can be a little tricky to find so ask at the hotel desk if you need help finding us.

The other cool thing is the "all you can eat wings buffet" on Thursdays. If I remember right, it's only $3, but you have to buy a beer (damn, I hate when they do that!!)

Many of us show up around 6 for the wing buffet.

Looking to become a new member. I have met some of you guys, but it was 6+ years ago and I brewed just one extract batch. Went to all grain this past summer and I am still way behind the curve and want to learn more since I am pretty much self/internet taught. Wanting to up my game to the dark side of keggles, electric, pumps and what not. I have a lot to learn before I make that step.

Anyway, I will be there around 8:00 unless the wing buffet is not a myth

I am a new member too! I can relate to the learning curve. But the guys have been great with answering questions and sharing their thoughts. I will be out there probably about 8ish as well. I look forward to meetings all month long!

See you all there!

Learning and meeting people with similar interests is what I am after. Once I have my keggles set up I could do 10 gallon batches for shared brew days

I have to run my son around to wrestling practice so as usual won't make it until later. I support all of the declared candidates so far.

Think I missed it. Don't know any faces so I could not find the group since the place was packed. Had some wings and a Guinness so not a total bust :(

Glad I found the club. Thanks for letting me sample several good beers also.

I completely forgot to ask how becoming a paying member works.

Membership dues of $30 may be paid via Dwolla or in person.

Treasurer@crbeernuts.org is the payment e-mail for Dwolla.

You might want to hold off on Dwolla.  I don't think I ever finished applying for it.

What do you mean? I paid my dues this year through it.

I should have paid last night, I had cash, but assumed there was a process with adding new members. I will be at the next meeting in January and will join then. Thanks

Okay, my mistake.  Our Dwolla account is active, but it needs to be linked to our bank account.  No big deal.

So if anyone wants to use Dwolla, go right ahead.
