Rhubarb in a beer?

Post by brianhall1024 »

Anyone in the club ever use rhubarb in a beer? I have access to a pretty sizeable amount. I thought about making a wine but not really much of a fan of wine. I've found a few recipes out on the interwebs, but wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with this? Thanks!

New Glarus made/makes a Strawberry/Rhubarb beer, you might poke around on their website. Otherwise, I'd look at adding about 1lb of rhubarb for each gallon of beer into the secondary (or primary after most of the active fermentation has ended.) You can give me some of your extra rhubarb...

Strawberry rhubarb beer would likely be delicious. Wonder if the strawberries would be the same ratio

New Glarus' version was certainly tasty. I'd probably stay around the 1lb of fruit per gallon ratio, but who knows... It's homebrew for God's sake!

Very true. A little heavy won't hurt. Hehe. I will see what I have left after brewing to share

If adding to secondary add some and if not enough add more.
