Another Road Brewing in Marion

Post by Matt F »

Anybody know much about Another Road Brewing opening soon in downtown Marion. Saw them on the local news tonight related to a city ordinance. They had a Sabco system installed.

From http://www.kcrg.com/news/local/Marion-O ... 23211.html
Treharne said a request from one business owner to build a specialty brewing establishment with a public tap room sparked the latest effort to change the distance rule. Another Road Brewing, 1175 8th Avenue in Marion, would go into the basement of a law office building. Owner Jeff Robison said he could brew the beer in the basement without any ordinance changes. But allowing the public in and operating a tasting or tap room requires a revised ordinance. The proposed location is within 200 feet of two churches on 8th Avenue.

Sounds like another place to NOT drink at, in Marion.

I stopped by yesterday. Apparently they open Thursday and had to spend Friday Kegging more beer.
It looks like they don't have set hours yet, but they are planning to be open for the marion festivals - fill a growler and head to the park.

Had their beers at the Corridor Beer Fest yesterday - both had major flaws. Couldn't even finish the stout.

Interesting. I didn't notice flaws in their beeers. They did say that they were brewing 2-10 gallon batches a day until they get their 3 bbl system installed. consistency issues may be an issue though.

They are now open Thursday-Saturday 4:30-10. My wife and I went on Thursday and I had a flight of all 5 beers they currently make. I'm still working on being able to identify flaws, but we both felt like all but the stout had a similar after taste. Hopefully they continue to work out the kinks as they get going.

We should have went Friday night after we left Ramsey's, but I spaced it off. I'm always complaining Marion has nothing to offer, so I hope they make me eat crow here

I am not far from Marion, but do not like to be anywhere near there even after one beer. The police are a bit aggressive there and I think that has made it a tough location for a bar. Outside of Bills not much lasts for long. That, and a higher property tax rate than CR.

I agree Matt. We live out on the east edge by Hwy13 and I hope something gets built that we can walk/ride our bikes to before the kids are graduated and we move. Until then if I want to indulge I am usually in my garage

Agreed, nothing beats the garage. If I were single, with no kids, I would be living in one and using a camper for my bed and kitchen. As it is, I am not single and have four kids. Apparently the garage plan won't cut it...for now.
