Iowa City BrewFest - 2009

Post by tony b »

Got an email announcement about this year's IA City brewfest. Here's the details (of particular note is the "premium" ticket to get in early, etc.)

Brew Fest Patrons,

This year's Iowa City Brew Fest will once again take place at Old Chicago Restaurant's Coralville location on Saturday, September 26, 2009!

Brew Master Special 11am – 1230pm

General Admission 1pm – 6pm

There will be an Oktoberfest theme, with polka band, wandering musicians, and a Munich-style beer tent. More than 200 imported and micro-brewed beers will be available, along with food, games, prizes, and brewery merchandise. Admission ticket includes sampling glass and tickets for free samples. Proceeds donated to the Johnson County Chapter of the American Heart Association.

Tickets are on sale now at John’s Grocery! Call 319-337-2183.

Introducing the Brew Master Special - $40/person includes 20 drink tickets and a commemorative crystal beer glass as well as one-of-a-kind brews not available after 12:30pm.

Iowa City BrewFest - 2009

This fest in the past has left me disappointed. I’m wondering what 40 bucks get you, Michelobe Cactus? 35 bucks you can be having 400 instead of 20 premium beers without the hassle of the chuckie cheese tickets up in Madison next month.

On the bright side its in IC which is close enough to drive back, but far enough to get pulled over.

I would be curious to see what the 20 beers in the Brewmaster's Special are. I have had about everything John's has to offer.

I agree with Travis, a lot more to be had in Madison. I just got back from the Empire Music and Brews Festival in Syracuse, NY. Price was $35 and inlcuded 8 bands on two stages, unlimited drinks, and lots of east coast breweries I had limited exposure to in the past as well as west coast ones I love. I am much more familiar with the east coast now.

Maybe it is the Crystal glass or huge pours of some great stuff. If any one goes, let us know the details.
