Re: 2014 Cedar Rapids Beer Nuts Festival
Sorry guys, I cannot make it this week. I have been so busy lately, I am now trying to plan and coordinate a boundary waters trip in the next 4 days. I have no spare time.

If we would like to go with larger glasses, here are a few interesting Pilsner varieties that are a bit different. I think they have a flute that would support being held in a beer lanyard.

Nice glasses, Daryl, but they are way too big for us - 10+ oz. A 3 oz pour would look really small in the glass and folks would expect bigger pours. To stay within Benz's dram shop insurance, we need to keep the pours small; hence, "tasting" glasses, under 5 oz.

I'm likely not going to make it, Trying to justify another beer-relates-evening to the wife probably won't fly. I can be reached by phone if you need any info from me.
Bad people drink bad beer. You don't usually see an empty bottle of Rochefort tossed onto the side of the road

It is essential tha we stay within the Dram restrictions to keep all of us legal and to protect our host (Benz). But I think the Dubuque Beer's on Ice venue has the same restrictions; and each year they provide a full pint glass as the sampling vessel. On that glass is a 2 oz mark/line (maybe it is 3 oz); the vendors were instructed to pour to that line. From my observation, most of the stewarts poured and aligned the bottom of the beer head/foam with that line (as best they could).tony b wrote:Nice glasses, Daryl, but they are way too big for us - 10+ oz. I never heard any complaints.
It seemed to work, and the full-size glasses were a nice, functional take-away.

We were told by Benz that going with a full pint glass would require us to take tickets. It is an insurance thing with Benz insurance provider. We do not want to take tickets. That means we must have small glasses. We have hashed all of this out with Benz in the past.daryl wrote:It is essential tha we stay within the Dram restrictions to keep all of us legal and to protect our host (Benz). Thanks Tim. That's good to know.
Do you know if there is a specific limit on ounces? Some of the glasses I posted, I think were on the order of 10 oz; but I think I did see some that were 4 oz (that I did not post).

The band is booked. Same guys as last year. $400 and all the beer they can drink and still play.

Excellent!
BTW - Benz was using the mini pilsners last night for the cider tasting. They worked well.

The one in Jensen's picture. Don't know the Libbey number for it, but it was a Libbey glass. We could check with Benz if we're interested in that one to get the number.
