Mine is a hybrid. I don't worry about mixing the HLT so only one pump. It is electric with a stainless heating element. I put my immersion chiller in there for the HERMS. Once the boil begins it goes in the boil kettle towards the end.

I played with various ways of mixing the HLT and found it wasn't necessary for my needs.

Hmmm, thinking out loud here. I would only need to control the temp on my HLT if I did it you way Matt. Cost savings and a bit simpler.

I will know tomorrow night about a brew session this Saturday so you can see mine in action. Picking up a Blichmann Autosparge this week to try out. Should allow me to monitor my fly sparge less which is nice when you brew and take care of kids at the same time.

The setup I'm working on is inspired by Matt's. If you do brew this weekend I'd love to come over. I'm still working some kinks out of mine.

Joe had one auto-sparge left, on sale for $35. I don't know if he still has it.

He still has it. Good deal for sure. I splurged for the stainless. Had been waiting for that product since the original came out. Nothing wrong with brass, but if you can go stainless, well, you know. I ran PBW through my brewery last night and it worked quite well for my system which uses gravity from the HLT to the mash during the sparge.

BTW-I am hosting a brewing session and tasting at my place Saturday starting at 4pm. I will post details in Members Only but the event is open to others as well. PM me if you can't find the details.

I've been using the original brass autosparge for several years and I am very happy with it. Do I wish I had the stainless one? Of course, but I haven't had any issues with my brass one.

Which store? I have wanted to try one. Should be nice to see one in action Saturday to help make up my mind.
