While doing research for a foodie group dinner, I learned that Soju (Korean rice liquor - think sake) is the biggest selling spirit in the world. Apparently the Koreans drink like camels.

I drank Soju once when I was stationed in Korea. It was horrible stuff. It cost $1 a gallon if you brought your own bucket. After every glass or two you would have to flush the sediment from your glass.

I'd heard that it was rot gut, but the stuff that I got (while still cheap - $12.50 for 1.5 Liters), was actually drinkable in a cocktail. Shots were a bit rough though.
