Anyone have a 1" hole punch?

Post by czubak »

I need a couple holes punched into my new pot. A hole saw isn't going to cut it and my cheap step bits aren't large enough.

If not I'll search for a larger step bit. I can't justify the cost of a Greenlee punch for this takes.

I have this one: http://www.amazon.com/Neiko-Titanium-St ... s=step+bit

It's cut 6-8 holes through stainless. You're welcome to borrow it, but, honestly, for that price, it would be easier to buy it.
Bad people drink bad beer. You don't usually see an empty bottle of Rochefort tossed onto the side of the road

I can swing by Harbor Freight and get one tomorrow. They also sell a punch set that's tempting, but I'm unsure how thick they can punch and it's Chinese throw away stuff so I don't want to press my luck too much.

I have a couple Harbor Freight step bits that have worked well for me. They were pretty cheap. You are welcome to borrow if you like.

Thanks but I'm headed to HF at lunch to get some. I was mainly checking if anyone had the fancy punch to try. Those are speedy units!

Second the HF step bit. I used it on converted kegs, worked like a charm. I did use some cutting oil to keep the temp down.

Chris,

I believe I have a 1" Greenlee knock-out. You'll need to drill a pilot hole for it.

It should go through stainless as long as it about the same gauge as what is used on circuit breaker boxes.

Your are welcome to borrow it.
In the Fridge/On Tap: English Bitter, Schwarzbier, Cream Ale
In the keg: Wheat Beer, Russian Imperial Stout
In the bucket:
In the queue: Irish Red, American IPA
