Beernuts Family Hockey Outing? - Clones vs Hawkeyes - Jan 24

I talked this up a little bit at last night's tech meeting and there seemed to be some interest.

The Cyclones will come to Eastern Iowa to play the Hawkeyes Hockey team, it is currently scheduled for Saturday, January 24.

The Hawkeyes typically play at the rink in Coralridge Mall, but they try to schedule this game to play at the Stable (CR Ice Arena). The RoughRiders have a game scheduled for that evening so I am expecting these guys will play in the afternoon.

I have not seen the Hawkeye's skate, but I have watched the Clones (play my Ohio Bobcats) four times over the past 2 years, and I can say that for ACHA Division 1, they skate a really good game.

I am hoping for a late afternoon game so I can take in a double header and stick around for the RoughRiders games; maybe take an intermission as the Stadium Lounge?

That sounds like it could be a fun day. Depending on how long the intermission is with approval my house is only 5-6 blocks from the stable. Could work out something to eat and I may have beer.

This sounds like fun. Adam has a hockey tournament in Iowa city that day, so it depends on his schedule, whether I can make it or not.

ISU and Iowa will be playing at the Stable at 1:30 PM - no word yet as to the cost of admission. In Ames they charge $10 for an adult/$5 for kids. I did not ask about concessions, but I'd expect something will be open.

Roughriders will play Youngstown at 7:05 PM; their Happy Hour is 5:30-6:30.

I will get with the Ice Arena and see if they have decided what admission, if any, they will charge for the Iowa/ISU game.

I am interested in seeing the difference in style/skill of the college players and the Roughriders; both skate a good game.

I'll get back with the info ASAP.

Are we trying to get a block of tickets for the roughriders game? I can make that one, but don't get off work till 330.

Here's the deal. I traded in some unused tickets for this RoughRiders game (7pm on the 24th.)

I have 10 tickets in Section W, Rows 5 & 6, Seats 11 - 15.

Your cost = $10 each. (Gate price of these seats is $14.75 each.)

Tonya from the Ice Arena just called me to let me know that Admission is FREE for the Iowa/Iowa State Hockey Game. It begins at 1:30 PM; I am sure it will be open seating.

Concessions will be open, in the Lobby; with no admission fee you can come and go freely from the arena and the lobby.

Be sure to contact Tony for tickets to the RoughRiders game. Marilyn and I are planning to attend....I'll be solo for the IA/ISU match.

I plan to be at Lions Bridge later today (5 - 7 ish) for the release of the barrel-aged Disaster at Meux. I'll have the hockey tickets with me, if anyone would like to get one then.

I'll also bring them Saturday to the Clones/Squawkeye mash-up for those "last minute shoppers."
