BIAB bags

Post by czubak »

I'm starting a small batch BIAB setup and bought WAY too much voile material. I made a bag last night and it was kind of fun.

If anyone wants a bag for BIAB or a hop spider let me know dimensions and I'll make you one. For the price (free) please don't expect perfection. I'm no sweat shop worker and my last sewing project was ~1987 in home economics.

Hmm, tempting. I've been thinking about getting a bag to increase the dump speed on my cooler infusion-mash tun, which wouldn't need to be very precise. I'll see if I get around to measuring before you are out.

I won't run out anytime soon. I could make a dozen or more easily. I want to make one for my cooler as well and get rid of the braided stainless piece.

Did Mick include a sleeve to slip over the stainless braid?

If so, do not use it! He also provided me with Brew in a Bags of the same material and I probably will not use them either....they hold water pretty well; and would take too long to drain. I think he double lined them.

You might want to do a water/strain test on your material before you commit to a batch; just to test it out.

Yes he did and I used it a couple weeks ago on my MT and it stuck horribly bad. I fished it out and it flowed fine. Yes his sleeves were double lined and a much finer mesh material than what I got (I think anyway.)

Mine is one layer and I boiled it last night on my boil off test to get beer smith calibrated and it didn't retain water so I'm pretty confident in its abilities for this purpose anyway. Tonight may be the test, I'm on call this weekend now :(

Great.

BIAB I think is a decent way of getting into All Grain.

Haven't tried it yet, but I will.

Good luck.
