pid controller parts?

Post by whitedj »

Just out of curiosity does anyone have extra parts such as controller ssr etc. They would be willing to part with?

I'm looking to control a rims tube.

I have a spare STC-1000, but not sure if that's intelligent enough.

Ultimately I'm leaning toward a PID controller with a SSR configuration. I don't think the SCT1000 will support enough current to last long even with a 1375W [at 120V]. I don't have a parts list yet still in the planning stage, but here are my thoughts. I'm also seeking input from what I've seen done with other people.

Simple PID (likely Auberins or one of the el-cheapo ones from amazon)
40A SSR
terminals for internal to control box
Temp probe - needing 1/2 NPT threads, 2-4" long
switches - high current for the element [maybe an E-stop button or circuit breaker?], and lower current for the PID [or a 1-2A panel mount breaker].

I second 4" probe. Less than that is really close to the side wall.
