Linn County Fair -- Beer judging
Linn County Fair -- Beer judging
Linn County Fair is having a homebrew competition, and they are in need of judges.
This is not a BJCP sponsored event, they are using the BJCP scores sheets and catagories. I think anyone in the club should be able to judge these beers.
When: Saturday June 27th
Benefits: judge some beers, and gain some experience. As an added bonus they are adding 2 grandstand tickets to your event of choice.
If interested please contact banasik.kevin@gmail.com for more information

I signed up to judge. Can't be too hard, with only 6 categories. Got free tickets to some country singer that my wife recognized.
I tasted some yeast starter liquid this weekend out of curiously, so there should be nothing that could possibly be worse than that. And I surely jinxed it now also.

So are any people from the club entering, and should I bring a bomber of MBC-Light to cleanse the palate between tasting and elicit panic in the participants?tony b wrote:Like the old saying goes, "Curiosity killed the cat!"andrewmaixner wrote:I tasted some yeast starter liquid this weekend out of curiously, so there should be nothing that could possibly be worse than that. I was thinking about entering a couple beers. It looks like I will have to enter my dark lager in the "other" category.

I received a Subway gift card in the mail for my first place entry in the Homebrew Competition. Andrew, what do you know about this? Do you think it was the Brown Ale that I entered

Interesting, they didn't tell you which beer it was for?

Nope, no mention of which beer or what category. Okay I know it wasn't the brown. I bottled that beer back in January and it definitely has not aged well. I think I have one bottle left. I might have to use it for cooking. So was it the IPA or the dark lager? I'm just curious.

Interesting. email banasik.kevin@gmail.com and see if he can tell you, he has the score sheets. My memory fails.crcyclone87 wrote:Nope, no mention of which beer or what category.
