Do it! You will love the Thermapen. Lots of us have them. I own 2 - one in the brew room and one in the kitchen (use it to check food on the grill all the time!)

I'm another happy owner of two (one in the kitchen and one in the brewhouse). The just work like you would want a thermometer to work.

I would if I wasn't bitter about my chefalarm and pissed that money away. Maybe a winter upgrade.

These are much cheaper and no moving parts to break if you have 5 seconds to wait.
