I was there around 11am and got a Barrel Aged and regular Darkness. The barrel aged was $25.99, ouch! They will be at the usual suspects today as they take their deliveries.

I was at the Marion HyVee this afternoon to pick up the Cask Strength Malted Rye Whiskey from Cedar Ridge (this HyVee bought the entire barrel and had it bottled at barrel strength). I asked about Darkness and the Bev Manager said, "They are all spoken for." They were still on the truck awaiting unloading.

Yeah, you have to be a "special" customer at that hy-vee to get stuff like that.

What an absolute crock of sh!t! Only reason that I had to go there was to get the Cedar Ridge release, only place to get it.

Interesting, I wonder if HyVee corporate management knows about that policy.

Doubt it, cuz no other stores handle releases like that.

Yeah I stopped buying at Marion wine and spirits because of their special list.

The benefit of all stores operateing independently under the umbrella/supply chain.

They do anything to maximize profits. I pretty well stopped shopping at hyvee stores when the fuel saver program came out. At this point the prices seemed to skyrocket for giving a little in return to customers.

Edgewood and the BF Drug Store both do sign-up lists for some beers (like hopslam).

From what I hear, Marion isn't a sign up though.

I think you can call the Marion one and get it put on hold. Not sure if you have to be on a special list and call in. I am hardly over there.
