Herms coil upgrade

Post by bf514921 »

A few weeks ago I ordered a herms coil from thelectricbrewery.com. the reason I went with them is because it specifically stated it fit a 10 gallon blichmann. I am happy To say it was spot on. I got compression fittings from brewhardware.com worked like a champ. I hope to brew on it this weekend.

Upgraded mine to a 50' x 1/2" coil a while back from the stock one from Stout. Made a world of a difference. Love it.

I was using my counter flow chiller bit I wasn't getting the movement in temperature I was looking for, stout makes nice stuff, was the original coil to small?

Sure was! 3/8" OD x 30ft coil. Was horrible.

Yeah, you need 50' of 1/2" to make it usable.

What sort of ramp rates were you getting with your CFC? I'm typically able to ramp from 148 to 162 in about 10 mins.

It wasn't 10 minutes, maybe I didn't have the eight flow rates?
