Lion Bridge Wort Rally 2017 - Call for feedback

Post by daryl »

My fellow Brewers, the McClains would like the Lion Bridge/Beer Nuts Wort Rally to run a second consecutive year! Woo Hoo!

So....let's hear the voice of the membership.....I am opening the discussion for suggestions/recommendations for this year's rally.

Potential topics may include: timing/dates, wort choice, or whatever topic you believe will benefit this year's execution.

My goal is to have a structure to present to the membership at the next club meeting.

What say ye?
In the Fridge/On Tap: English Bitter, Schwarzbier, Cream Ale
In the keg: Wheat Beer, Russian Imperial Stout
In the bucket:
In the queue: Irish Red, American IPA

Yes! Lets do it again! I would like to do in time to have a potential entry in to the GABF Pro-Am if that interests Quinton. See if he has any interest in that and then have those entry dates guide our time line.

I think this could easily be in the cards. I have visited with Kent Ball on this topic, some time ago, about pulling together and recruiting judges...and he seemed amenable to the idea. He would have the contacts that could help make this happen...one of us should reach out to him and see if the interest is still there.

Count me in again! It was a lot of fun. Glad that Q is onboard to do it again and I love the idea of the Pro-Am. If we go that route, then that will dictate the timing/schedule. Either way, I'd like to see us get the wort soon (nlt March), so it doesn't interfere with Benz and NHC.

Only suggested change this time around would be for 5 gals of wort and not 10. That was a bit much for me to have to deal with. Maybe this time we could do Workman's Comp.

I'm in. I didn't have time to get in last year, so I'm excited for this year!

I'm in. Would prefer sometime after NHC, but I'm not that picky.

Agreed. Don't want to get too many irons in the fire at once, plus it'll be something to look forward to after the NHC hangover.

I'm in and fine with whatever wort they want to use. Kundra kolsch or workman comp would be fun

I'd vote something milder as options will be more diverse.

I'm definitely in, missed it last year. I think a pale ale/IPA base would be fun. That would give us a lot of options.
