Ordinary Bitter Competition - Call for Judges

Post by daryl »

This is the call for judges, to judge the submissions for this quarter's club competition.

Location will be either Another Road Tap Room in Marion or the Iowa Brewing Company - both are friendly for bottle-sharing.

The potential dates are:

Wed. Feb 8, starting at 8 PM.
Thu. Feb 9, starting at or after 7 PM

We can get by with 4, but six is better. It is good to have a steward or two as well.

Please post if you can judge on one or both of these dates.

If you are new to judging, I think Ordinary Bitter is a good style to start judging....don't be shy, there will be experienced judges participating that will help you along.
In the Fridge/On Tap: English Bitter, Schwarzbier, Cream Ale
In the keg: Wheat Beer, Russian Imperial Stout
In the bucket:
In the queue: Irish Red, American IPA

I would like to help Daryl but please clarify dates. The numbers and dates above don't match. Feb. 10 is a Friday.

I'd be interested in stewarding. Thursday works best for me, but Tuesday works too.

Sorry, I have an entry this go around and Wednesday night is a rare mid-week RoughRiders game.

If I can recruit one or two more judges, I will line up a location and we will shoot for Thursdays, at 8 PM.

Any takers?

Ok, we will be judging this Thursday at Another Road, at or just after 8 PM.

Pat McCullough - I'll take you up on stewarding.

Our judges so far are: Matt Franklin, Dan White, and Daryl McCall

We could use another judge or two.

If you would like to learn how to do this, Ordinary Bitter would be a good style to cut your teeth....you can respond here or PM me.

Hm, the late hour (kids in bed) and close location means that I might be able to help judge. I'll run it past the co-parenting-unit

Any luck on a calibration beer? I did not try the Quarter Barrel Bitter when was there Tuesday. Not sure what may be on the shelf in town.
