Lager 'Lympics
Lager 'Lympics
I got an inquiry from a friend asking for the Beernuts to participate in the 1st Annual Lager 'Lympics on June 3 at NewBo.
It is Metro North Rotary's new fundraiser.
Here is a link to the info:

They are looking to secure all Brewers within the next week or so. To be included on the printed posters, we need to know by March 15.
I think this would be great publicity for our own event later in August. Maybe we'll pick up some new patrons. I would be in to brew for this event and we can set up a large bar. I'll be the point man on this if there is ample club interest.
It is halfway between Benzfest and NHC. Any takers?

Re: Lager 'Lympics
hmm... as much as the rotary is a good group to support, my summer is already pretty busy, and as you said, right between 2 of the 3 big club events. I doubt that we'd be able to field a full-on effort, but let's see who wants to commit to keg(s) or attendance?
Re: Lager 'Lympics
I shared the same concerns with Mike that Andrew mentions. I said he could post it to gauge club interest but that I doubt we could support the event. Our Club priority is to have a good showing as we always do with our long time partners Benz Beverage Depot at their festival on May 13. This event will be three weeks later followed by the National Homebrew Conference 11 days after that. Our priorities as a club are for Benz Beerfest on May 13 and Homebrew Con starting June 15.
If you will have beer and interest to participate in the event let us know and particularly Mike Hora who made this post and is our contact for this event. I myself don't have the beer to spare for it nor the marital clout to be gone at beer festivals every other weekend. Don't feel bad if we can't do this festival. We are a group of homebrewers and not large scale operations. We cannot do it all.

This may be a good application for the table top tap box if we have enough interest
The guy who submitted a barley wine in the Furious competition...
Re: Lager 'Lympics
I agree. Not likely a full on trailer event. Toss tap box and table in the car and good to go.whitedj wrote:This may be a good application for the table top tap box if we have enough interest

If we have some leftovers and a few people willing to pour, that would be enough to have a showing. We may not know if we can participate before March 15 though.

Yeah especially lagers. If they did it next Winter we could probably do it up.

It is just a name. Any beer works. Dan suggesting the tap box is the way to go.

I will be pouring at this event and with the tap box. Please contact me if you willing and able to participate at this event. Benz leftovers are certainly the focus for this event and I will create an event on Herokuapp.

Re: Lager 'Lympics
Mike, you want to use 6 tap box with tub of ice or 7 tap jockey? Jockey box much more portable and uses less ice. Downside is much harder to clean properly and does not pour as well. I used 6 tap box last weekend. More stuff to carry. It includes a folding table with a hole cut through it for tubing. I used two large bags of ice with two 5 gallon buckets of water to keep kegs cold for 6 hours. I had access to an electrical outlet and used pump in the large tub with the kegs to chill the tower. You could use the table for the jockey box too if they do not have tables.

Pictures of 6 tap setup. Was able to haul in the back of my SUV with the back seats in normal riding position. Would fit in most SUVs or vans with ease. Might fit in the back seat of a car. Jockey box will for sure.

Re: Lager 'Lympics
I'll probably send some beer, if not pour as well. Need to double check that our calendars clear so we can attend.
Edit: Green light, I'll be there to help out and pour! Mike, I'll send you a pm.

The event is up on Herokuapp. You can register beers now or after Benzfest.
