Call for Judges - Linn Co Fair Beer and Wine Comp

Post by jjpeanasky »

Last night at the meeting I brought up that the Linn County Fair Beer and Wine Competition is in search of 3-4 more judges. Here's the message I received:

"5/18/2017 Good evening, My name is David McDonald and I was asked recently to oversee the Linn County Fair's Home Brew and Wine competition. We are looking for judges for both and hoped that you could provide some suggested contacts. The competition this year will be on Saturday July 1, at the Linn County Fair Grounds. Please contact me at 319/ 389-4437 if you would please. I believe Kevin Banasik had worked with Andrew Maixner in the past. I appreciate your time and consideration on this request. - Best Regards, David."

I won't be able to help out, but if someone would like to take point on this it would be great to support this local competition. David asked that we get commitments within the next couple of weeks.

Cheers!

Hopefully I won't be the only one who enters this year!

Not sure if I'll be able to. I had fun judging year before last, but with 3x the kids, it's a little harder to fit in

I was planning on entering a couple beers. The rules state that entry forms need to be submitted by June 15, but I could not find the form on their website.

I found the same circular link...emailed one of the contacts....have not heard back yet.

Also, you have to deliver the beers in person...at least that is my interpretation of the what I could read on the competition. If so, I'm out, I cannot not be there that morning.

They must have just updated their link because this is a different form than was there previously. But now the show date is listed as June 24, 2017 which is the Saturday before the fair starts. Is that correct?

I emailed the person in charge and he said the date was wrong. He was going to correct it.

I e-mailed a guy named Chad...I've heard nothing back.

It sounds like you have to be there, in-person, to submit your entries.

Yes, I think it was Chad that I emailed. Yes you have bring your entries that day or have someone deliver them for you. Two years ago I had Andrew take my entries when he judged and I won a Subway gift cards for one of my beers.

I heard from Chad this morning.

So, you can have your entries dropped off by someone else that morning.

I encourage everyone to submit a beer or two or three....submit your Wort Rally entries just for the fun of it.

Wort rally brews might violate rule # 3:

This contest is open to participants who create beer as amateur hobbyists and the use of professional equipment and BOP facilities is prohibited.
