I am using the National Teach a Friend To Brew Day as an excuse to throw a party. Everyone is welcome, feel free to bring some of your own to taste or you can drin kwhat I have - I will have about 8-9 gallons of a Winter Lager and a Honey Brown Ale available in bottles. I am brewing a 5 gallon extract of a Fat Tire Clone and bottling a pale ale. I am guessing about 30 people of only 3-4 will be interested in learning to brew - the rest will be there to drink beer. Below is the info - not sure if the mapquest will work on a website.
When: Saturday November 3rd at approximately 5:00 PM until ??.
Where: 240 17th Avenue Court in Hiawatha
What: Drink beer, make beer, eat food.
Details: We have the grill going around 5 pm and weather dependant we will have a fire pit a little later. Bring anything you would like to grill, we will have some munchies (Cocktail weenies and various chips and dip). Feel free to bring anything else to share.
I will start brewing a batch of beer at approximately 6:30 - you will get a chance to see the whole process as I have a batch ready to bottle as well. I am guessing it will take until approximately 9 for me to finish everything unless someone is willing to help bottle - in which case I can probably do both the brewing at bottling at the same time and be done around 8. Either way, this is a party and watching me brew beer for 3 hours probably won't be fun for most so - we will have the dart board going in the basement, Brewfest will be playing on the big screen, I will try to get a couple outdoor bag games going if the weather is ok outside. We will also have Guitar Hero upstairs and whatever football game going in the garage (on the really little TV). Oh and we will have beer.
Since I am bottling on Saturday I will have two types ready to drink; a Winter Lager and and a Honey Brown Ale. I will have a couple cases of other stuff for people to drink (not everyone likes brewed beer) - please feel free bring anything else you may want to drink in place of beer.
Costumes are more than welcome but not necessary or if you would like to use a bathroom to get ready for a costume party, you are more than welcome - we have three. Just be sure to stay away from the fire with anything that is flammable - I haven't charged my fire extinguisher in a while and I will probably reach for a camera first.
